He reiterated that the $500,000 incentive he earlier promised would still be honoured, even though the team failed to reach the final.<\/p>\n<p>According to the BUA chairman, the gesture was aimed at appreciating the players\u2019 commitment, resilience and overall progress at the tournament. He noted that the Super Eagles\u2019 campaign reflected growth and renewed hope for Nigerian football.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe team gave their all and represented the country with pride. This reward is to recognise their remarkable journey and effort at the competition,\u201d Rabiu said.<br \/>\nReports indicate that the incentive, estimated at about \u20a6710 million, is one of the biggest private rewards pledged to the national team in recent times.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Super Eagles\u2019 semifinal exit has continued to draw reactions from across the country, with political leaders, sports administrators and fans praising the players for rekindling optimism despite falling short of a place in the final.<\/p>\n<p>Nigeria reached the semifinals after a series of impressive performances at AFCON 2025, raising expectations and reaffirming the team\u2019s potential ahead of future international engagements.<\/p>\n<p>In his tweet on X, Obi said: &#8220;Dearest gallant Super Eagles, it was a battle well fought and heads were not bowed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you for a beautiful 120 minutes of incredible play. You showed your strength and prowess against all odds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe journey is not over. You have made the nation proud. Keep your heads high, the Eagle never stops soaring.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is another stage, let\u2019s go get that medal. You have done well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also on his X handle, former Kano governor and leader of the New Nigeria People&#8217;s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, said: &#8220;Chin up, Super Eagles. You played well against a great opponent.
