The administration described the alleged directive as a \u201cfalse and misleading\u201d memo and confirmed that <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\"><b>no decision to shut down schools was taken at any level<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 22px;\"><b>A circular \u2014 titled <\/b><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\"><i>\u201cUrgent Need for Early Closure of Schools Due To Security Concerns\u201d<\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\"> \u2014 was circulated, instructing all public senior secondary schools to end academic activities and dismiss students by 28 November. The memo was signed by the Director of School Services, Aishatu Sani Alhassan. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">The memo triggered widespread alarm among parents, students, and school staffs. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 22px;\"><b>FCTA\u2019s response &amp; disciplinary action<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">In a statement, the FCTA \u2014 through the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communications, Lere Olayinka \u2014 dismissed the circular as fake, urging the public to disregard it, reiterating that the <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\"><b>approved academic calendar remains unchanged<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">As a result of the controversy, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, ordered the immediate suspension of the Mandate Secretary for Education, Danlami Hayyo, who has said he did not see the memo and did not authorise it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">Additionally, the Acting Head of Service, Nancy Sabanti Nathan, was directed to discipline Aishatu Sani Alhassan in line with civil-service rules. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">The FCTA reiterated that <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\"><b>teaching and learning activities<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\"> will continue as normal. No official order has been issued to close any school. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">The administration also assured residents \u2014 especially students \u2014 of ongoing security measures. The Minister directed the resumption of Operation Sweep and other security initiatives to bolster safety in schools and communities across the FCT. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">However, because the \u201cviral circular\u201d was widely shared via unofficial channels (social media, broadcast platforms) \u2014 rather than via official FCTA communication outlets \u2014 it remains unclear <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\"><b>how<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\"> the memo leaked, or whether it was a deliberate sabotage, internal mischief, or administrative error.
