{"id":95908,"date":"2025-11-08T19:08:13","date_gmt":"2025-11-08T19:08:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=95908"},"modified":"2025-11-08T19:08:13","modified_gmt":"2025-11-08T19:08:13","slug":"adeboye-urges-tinubu-to-act-fast-gives-90-day-deadline-to-crush-terrorists-after-trumps-warning-on-christian-killings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=95908","title":{"rendered":"Adeboye urges Tinubu to act fast, gives 90-Day deadline to crush terrorists after Trump\u2019s warning on Christian killings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to issue a 90-day ultimatum to Nigeria\u2019s service chiefs to eliminate terrorists and their sponsors, following recent comments by United States President Donald Trump accusing the Nigerian government of failing to protect Christians.<\/p>\n<p>Adeboye\u2019s appeal came during the RCCG\u2019s November Holy Ghost Service themed \u201cThe Eve of Glory,\u201d where he warned that Nigeria could face international consequences if it fails to address its worsening security crisis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet the government use diplomatic means to convince President Trump to give us 100 days of grace,\u201d Adeboye said. \u201cCall our service chiefs\u2014fortunately, they are new\u2014and tell them to perform within three months or resign.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The cleric\u2019s message follows a controversial statement last week from President Trump, who alleged that the Nigerian government is \u201ctolerating the persecution of Christians\u201d and warned that the United States \u201cmay have to step in\u201d if the killings persist.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, speaking via his social-media platform Truth Social, hinted that Washington could suspend aid or take \u201cdirect action\u201d against groups responsible for what he described as \u201creligious genocide.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In response, Nigeria\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Yusuf Tuggar, dismissed Trump\u2019s remarks as \u201cmisguided and inflammatory,\u201d insisting that violence in the country affects both Christians and Muslims and is driven by banditry, insurgency and communal conflict rather than religious persecution.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018Tinubu Being Misled\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Adeboye, who described President Tinubu as his \u201cin-law,\u201d said he was disturbed by the President\u2019s recent assertion that security had improved nationwide and that internally displaced persons (IDPs) had returned to their communities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI almost spoke out last month when I heard the speech from my in-law, the President,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen I heard him say that all is well now and that displaced people have returned to their villages, I almost said that the person who wrote that speech for my President does not like him. There are people around my beloved in-law who are not telling him the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Adeboye added that his intervention was not to apportion blame but to seek urgent solutions. \u201cOur President inherited this problem; it started before him. I am an applied mathematician\u2014I\u2019m interested in simply getting the problem solved,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018This Is Not About Religion\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Although Trump\u2019s comments framed the violence in religious terms, Adeboye emphasised that the killings affect all Nigerians regardless of faith.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not about Christians or Muslims\u2014innocent people are dying every day,\u201d he said. \u201cWe have been praying for Nigeria; we can\u2019t keep praying without something happening. Newton\u2019s Law of Motion says a body remains at rest unless compelled by an external force\u2014God\u2019s force will bring peace to Nigeria again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The cleric also warned against relying on external powers to defend the country. \u201cIf America attacks us, China, Russia and Britain will condemn it\u2014but that\u2019s all they\u2019ll do,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p><strong>U.S. Threats Stir Diplomatic Anxiety<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s remarks have rattled diplomatic circles. According to The Washington Post, he has instructed the Pentagon to \u201creview Nigeria\u2019s security situation\u201d and \u201cevaluate options\u201d if the violence continues.
