{"id":95880,"date":"2025-11-06T14:29:06","date_gmt":"2025-11-06T14:29:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=95880"},"modified":"2025-11-06T14:29:06","modified_gmt":"2025-11-06T14:29:06","slug":"tinubu-campaign-posters-disappearing-from-parts-of-abuja","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=95880","title":{"rendered":"Tinubu campaign posters disappearing from parts of Abuja"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Residents in the Federal Capital City (FCC) of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are reporting the disappearance of campaign posters of President Bola Tinubu In parts of the city.<\/p>\n<p>It is not clear whether old ones are being pulled down to be replaced with new ones, but residents, especially along the Umaru Musa Yar&#8217;Adua Way, also known as the Airport Road reported seeing men in a vehicle stopping and removing the posters.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that many have criticised the brazen breach of the electoral law on campaigns and the silence of the Federal Capital Territory Administration supervised by the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike.<\/p>\n<p>At press time, Everyday.ng was unable to reach the FCTA agency responsible for outdoor signages \u00e0nd advertisements.<\/p>\n<p>Some months ago, a Nigerian online newspaper, PREMIUM TIMES, did a report highlighting the rash of what appeared to be unsolicited campaign posters for the President.<\/p>\n<p>It said supporters of President Bola Tinubu have resumed displaying campaign posters across Abuja, days after the president urged them to suspend any 2027 election activities.<br \/>\nHis aides said then that the early campaign materials breach\u00a0Independent National Electoral Commission\u00a0(INEC) rules, which prohibit political advertising before the official timetable is released.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUntil INEC sets the timetable for the 2027 elections, the President has not endorsed or authorised anyone to mount a campaign for him,\u201d presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga said in April.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the warning, new billboards have appeared along Airport Road and in the Central Business District, featuring slogans such as\u00a0\u201cStep Up, Speak Out, Support Tinubu\u201d\u00a0and\u00a0\u201cJoin the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement Today.\u201d\u00a0One poster shows Tinubu beside former Niger Delta militant leader Government Ekpemupolo, known as Tompolo, described as the group\u2019s \u201cGrand Patron.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The displays came as Tinubu marked nearly two years in office. Former presidents Muhammadu Buhari and Goodluck Jonathan announced their re-election bids in their third year.<\/p>\n<p>Onanuga said early campaigning \u201cundermines the integrity of the electoral process\u201d and reaffirmed that Tinubu \u201cdoes not support any action that violates INEC\u2019s rules.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Residents in the Federal Capital City (FCC) of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are reporting the disappearance of campaign posters of President Bola Tinubu In parts of the city.
