The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has called on President Bola Tinubu to make public the forensic audit report of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), which he claims contains indicting details about former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.<\/p>\n
Wike, speaking during an appearance on Channels Television\u2019s Politics Today on Friday in Abuja, stated he is willing to resign if the report is released and does not implicate Amaechi.<\/p>\n
In response to allegations from Amaechi accusing him of corruption, Wike alleged that Amaechi\u2019s wife received N4 billion monthly from the NDDC to conduct training programs for women in the Niger Delta\u2014a total of N48 billion in one year. He emphasized that the audit report confirms this claim and alleged that it was suppressed by former Attorney General Abubakar Malami.<\/p>\n
“Amaechi\u2019s wife was never an industrialist. Her company received N4 billion monthly to train women in the Niger Delta. The forensic audit confirms this. Who buried the report? Malami did. That\u2019s why I\u2019m appealing to Mr. President: release the forensic audit. If what I\u2019m saying is not reflected in the report, I will resign as Minister of the FCT. I don\u2019t cling to office. Let Nigerians see the truth,” Wike said.
\nHe reiterated his call for transparency, adding that he does not claim the audit is perfect, but believes it should be released for public scrutiny.<\/p>\n
Wike also took a swipe at Amaechi\u2019s educational background, describing it as \u201cbelow average.\u201d He dismissed Amaechi\u2019s claim that a Senator had gifted him a Rolls-Royce, alleging instead that the vehicle was provided by a contractor handling a significant portion of Rivers State projects while Amaechi was governor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
