{"id":93923,"date":"2025-05-29T15:39:37","date_gmt":"2025-05-29T15:39:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=93923"},"modified":"2025-05-29T15:39:37","modified_gmt":"2025-05-29T15:39:37","slug":"strange-man-kills-uncle-drinks-his-blood-in-ebonyi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=93923","title":{"rendered":"Strange: Man kills uncle, drinks his blood in Ebonyi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A 40-year-old man, Mr\u00a0 Emmanuel Nwedu, has been remanded at a correctional centre\u00a0 over the alleged murder of his uncle.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This followed his arraignment before an Abakaliki Magistrates\u2019 Court II on Tuesday.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">After killing his uncle, it was learned that the suspect drank his blood.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The suspect\u2019s plea, who has been facing a count charge of murder, was not taken as he had no legal representation in court.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Senior State Counsel, Mr Emmanuel Alo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 24 at Ugboenyim, in Ebonyi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Alo explained that the defendant caused the death of Mr Godwin Nwedu by striking him on the forehead with a stick.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">He said, \u201cThe defendant thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 329 (1) of the Criminal Code Law, Cap 33, Vol. 1, Laws of Ebonyi State of 2009.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Following the submission of the original case file, the prosecuting counsel prayed that the defendant be remanded at the Federal Correctional Centre, Abakaliki.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Chief Magistrate, Chinedu Agama, ordered that the defendant be remanded at the correctional centre.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">He further directed that the matter be transferred to the Director of Public Prosecutions for further prosecution.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The case was adjourned until June 11 for a compliance report.<\/span><\/span><!--\/data\/user\/0\/com.samsung.android.app.notes\/files\/clipdata\/clipdata_bodytext_250529_163524_045.sdocx--><\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Report by <strong>ikengaonline.com<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 40-year-old man, Mr\u00a0 Emmanuel Nwedu, has been remanded at a correctional centre\u00a0 over the alleged murder of his uncle.
