{"id":93745,"date":"2025-05-05T19:33:49","date_gmt":"2025-05-05T19:33:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=93745"},"modified":"2025-05-05T19:33:49","modified_gmt":"2025-05-05T19:33:49","slug":"nasarawa-police-boss-orders-probe-into-death-of-5-children-in-abandoned-vehicle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=93745","title":{"rendered":"Nasarawa Police boss orders probe into death of 5 children in abandoned vehicle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">An investigation has been initiated following the unfortunate death of five children\u00a0 in an abandoned vehicle <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">at Agyaragu in Obi Local Government Area of the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">The investigation was ordered by the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, according to a statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, on Monday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">Nansel disclosed that the lifeless bodies of the children were found in an abandoned vehicle parked at the residence of one Abu Agyeme about 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 4.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">He said one Ozimna Ogbor, who reported the matter, said the children, were aged between six and 10 years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">The police spokesperson said: \u201cUpon arrival, the officers found the victims locked inside the abandoned vehicle.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">\u201cThey were promptly evacuated to Aro Hospital, Agyaragu, where a medical doctor regrettably confirmed all of them dead due to suspected suffocation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">\u201cThis heartbreaking incident is a painful reminder of a similar tragedy that occurred in August 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">\u201cDue to severe heat burns on the deceased bodies, the remains were released to their parents based on a request for burial.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">Nansel added that the police commissioner had ordered a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">He quoted Jauro-Mohammed to have expressed sorrow over the loss and extended the command\u2019s condolences to the bereaved families.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">Jauro-Mohammed also cautioned parents, guardians, and vehicle owners to be vigilant and ensure that children do not gain access to parked or abandoned vehicles without supervision.<\/span><br \/>\n<!--\/data\/user\/0\/com.samsung.android.app.notes\/files\/clipdata\/clipdata_bodytext_250505_202945_076.sdocx--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An investigation has been initiated following the unfortunate death of five children\u00a0 in an abandoned vehicle at Agyaragu in Obi Local Government Area of the state.
