{"id":93535,"date":"2025-04-05T11:54:34","date_gmt":"2025-04-05T11:54:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=93535"},"modified":"2025-04-05T16:55:28","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T16:55:28","slug":"permanent-secretary-who-claimed-sokoto-kebbi-have-highest-number-of-guys-lesbians-suspended","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=93535","title":{"rendered":"Permanent Secretary who claimed Sokoto, Kebbi have highest number of gays suspended"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">A top civil servant in the Kebbi State Government who claimed the state and Sokoto have the highest number of gays and lesbians in the country has been suspended from office by Governor Nasir Idris.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">The Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Office, Dr Nasiru Abubakar Kigo,<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\"> claimed that Kebbi has 19,567 lesbians, majority of whom are married women and 15,979 homosexuals while delivering a\u00a0 Ramadan lecture at a mosque in Aliero Quarters area of Birnin Kebbi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">He said investigation showed that they were registered with ID Cards and certificate of homosexuality.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">He said a second investigation carried showed that homosexual had a station in a local government.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">\u201cThey influence children to join. We know we don\u2019t want to expose them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">\u201cThose registered homosexual have reached 15,979 here in Kebbi\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">A letter dated April 4 from the office of the State Head of Service, Shekare Malami, said the permanent secretary remained suspended until investigation into the claims and figures he reeled out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">On Thursday, the Special Adviser to the governor on Religious Affairs, Engr Imrana Ibn Usman, faulyed the permanent secretary&#8217;s position describing it as \u201cdefamatory, obnoxious, misleading and unacceptable.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">\u201cWe diligently appraised these claims to establish the truth, the assertion that Sokoto State ranks highest in the nation for lesbianism is utterly false and condemnable.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">\u201cThe Kebbi State Government categorically rejects and condemns such false declarations and will not allow the good image of the state to be tarnished,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">\u201cThese false claims have painted our states (Kebbi and Sokoto) and our people in a negative light, while also misrepresenting Islam and the legacy of the Sokoto Caliphate,\u201d he said.<\/span><!--\/data\/user\/0\/com.samsung.android.app.notes\/files\/clipdata\/clipdata_bodytext_250405_124308_145.sdocx--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A top civil servant in the Kebbi State Government who claimed the state and Sokoto have the highest number of gays and lesbians in the country has been suspended from office by Governor Nasir Idris.
