Julius Abure packing as the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), putting Senator Nenadi Usman in good stead to act as the chairman.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">There was muffled celebrations in the camp of the party&#8217;s former presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi; but for Usman, there is no Victor, no vanquished.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">In a statement, she said: &#8220;The recent ruling by the Supreme Court, which allowed the appeal filed by Senator Nenadi Usman\u2014declaring it meritorious\u2014while dismissing the cross-appeal filed by the Abure faction of the Labour Party as unmeritorious, is a victory for the rule of law and a significant milestone for our democracy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">&#8220;It is important to emphasize that this is not a time for triumphalism\u2014there is no victor and no vanquished. What matters most is our shared commitment to the ideals and aspirations of the Labour Party and the Nigerian people. We must now come together, united in purpose and vision, to move the party forward.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">&#8220;The Labour Party remains one indivisible family, steadfast in its mission to create a New Nigeria founded on justice, equity, and people-centred governance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">&#8220;We call on all party members, supporters, and stakeholders to remain calm, focused, and committed to the democratic ideals that bind us.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">The Supreme Court had earlier overruled the Court of Appeal in Abuja, which ruled that Julius Abure was the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">The five-member apex court panel had unanimously adjudged that the lower court of appeal lacked the authority to rule that Abure was the\u00a0 Chairman LP because\u00a0 matters of leadership are internal to a party and fall outside the court\u2019s jurisdiction.<\/span><!--\/data\/user\/0\/com.samsung.android.app.notes\/files\/clipdata\/clipdata_bodytext_250404_175239_260.sdocx--><br \/>\n<!--\/data\/user\/0\/com.samsung.android.app.notes\/files\/clipdata\/clipdata_bodytext_250404_175012_685.sdocx--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Supreme Court this Friday sent Barr.
