{"id":93498,"date":"2025-03-31T19:32:09","date_gmt":"2025-03-31T19:32:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=93498"},"modified":"2025-03-31T19:33:18","modified_gmt":"2025-03-31T19:33:18","slug":"lagos-assembly-staff-send-written-apology-to-dss-over-assaulting-personnel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=93498","title":{"rendered":"Lagos Assembly staff send written apology to DSS over assault on personnel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">Three staff of the Lagos State House of Assembly arrested for assaulting\u00a0 officers of the Department of State Services (DSS) during the recent leadership crisis in the house have sent a written apology to department.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">Recall that DSS operatives had arrived to beef up security at the Assembly following a written request by the acting clerk, but were attacked.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">According to the letter with reference number LSHA\/FAD\/0\/7554\/323, the acting clerk requested the DSS to secure the facility &#8220;from February 15 till further notice.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">Relying on CCTV footage, the DSS arrested the assembly workers and filed charges against them. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">In separate letters of apology dated March 28, 2025,\u00a0 Ibrahim Abdul-Akeem Olarenwaju, a public affairs officer at the assembly, Miss Adetola Fatimoh Oluwatosin and Adetu Samshudeen Adekunle, both officers with the Sergeant-at- Arms told the DSS Director General, Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, expressed regrets for their actions and sought forgiveness.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">Their letters were routed through the State Director of Security, Lagos State Command. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">&#8220;I, Ibrahim Abdul- Akeem Olarenwaju. .., hereby tender my unreserved apology for any act or ommission that I might have caused your distinguished office (DSS) and personnel in the course of my duty at the hallowed chamber of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Alausa, on the 27th day of February, 2025,&#8221; one of the letters addressed to the DSS Director General, read. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">They\u00a0 promised the secret police to be of good conduct and refrain from any future acts that could undermine their personnel. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">Also, during the Assembly leadership crisis, some media houses allegedly published misleading reports that DSS operatives invaded the assembly. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">Some of the media organisations have since retracted the stories and apologised to the DSS.\u00a0<\/span><!--\/data\/user\/0\/com.samsung.android.app.notes\/files\/clipdata\/clipdata_bodytext_250331_202950_532.sdocx--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three staff of the Lagos State House of Assembly arrested for assaulting\u00a0 officers of the Department of State Services (DSS) during the recent leadership crisis in the house have sent a written apology to department.
