General.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">But his death was not thought to be in play by watchers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">Lagbaja was 56 years, and was appointed COAS by President Bola Tinubu on June 19, 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, said Lagbaja passed away on Tuesday night in Lagos after a period of illness<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">\u201cBorn on February 28, 1968, Lt. General Lagbaja was appointed Chief of Army Staff on June 19, 2023, by President Tinubu,\u201d the statement reads.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">\u201cHis distinguished military career began when he enrolled in the Nigerian Defence Academy in 1987.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">\u201cOn September 19, 1992, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Nigerian Infantry Corps as a member of the 39th Regular Course.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">\u201cThroughout his service, Lt.
