President Bola Tinubu has urged the Senate to confirm nomination of seven ministerial nominees for appointment as ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.<\/p>\n

Mr Tinubu\u2019s request is contained in a letter addressed to President of Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and read at plenary on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Mr Tinubu, in the letter, listed the nominees to include: Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, Muhammadu Dingyadi, Bianca Odumegu-Ojukwu, Dr Jumoke Oduwole, Mukhtar Maiha, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata and Dr Suwaiba Ahmad.<\/p>\n

Mr Akpabio, thereafter, referred the request to the committee of the whole for expeditious consideration.<\/p>\n

Recall that on Wednesday, the President restructured ministries, ministerial portfolios, appointed and sacked some ministers. A statement by his media aide, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, titled, STATEMENT\u00a0 <\/u>ON<\/u>\u00a0<\/u>THE<\/u> \u00a0<\/u>RESTRUCTURING\u00a0 OF MINISTRIES AND<\/u> MINISTERIAL PORTFOLIOS reads in full: <\/u><\/p>\n

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR has approved the immediate implementation of eight far-reaching actions to reinvigorate the Administration\u2019s capacity for optimal efficiency pursuant of his commitment to deliver on his promises to Nigerians.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The eight actions approved by Mr. President include:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The renaming of the Ministry of Nigeria Delta Development to Ministry of Regional Development to oversee the activities of all the Regional Development Commissions. The Regional Development Commissions to be under the supervision of the new Ministry are; the Niger Delta Development Commission, the South East Development Commission, the North East Development and the North West Development Commission.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The immediate winding up of the Ministry of Sports Development and the transfer of its functions to the National Sports Commission in order to develop a vibrant sports economy;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The merger of the Federal Ministry of Tourism and the Federal Ministry of Arts and Culture to become Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy;<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The reassignment of ten (10) ministers to new ministerial portfolios;<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The\u00a0discharge\u00a0of\u00a0five\u00a0(5)\u00a0Ministers.<\/p>\n

6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The nomination of seven (7) new ministers for onward transmission to Senate for confirmation;<\/p>\n

The President thanked the outgoing members of the Federal Executive Council for their service to the nation while wishing them the best in their future endeavours.<\/p>\n
