{"id":8597,"date":"2018-04-10T14:24:19","date_gmt":"2018-04-10T14:24:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=8597"},"modified":"2018-04-10T14:24:19","modified_gmt":"2018-04-10T14:24:19","slug":"negative-monday-for-nigerian-stocks-n150-billion-lost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=8597","title":{"rendered":"Negative Monday for Nigerian stocks, N150 billion lost"},"content":{"rendered":"<header id=\"main-header\">\n<div class=\"top-menu\n\t\t sticky-scroll-up\t\t contain-to-grid\t\t\t show-for-small-only\"><\/p>\n<nav class=\"top-bar\" data-topbar=\"\" data-sticky_height=\"0\" data-distance=\"245\" data-options=\"sticky_on: small; back_text: Back\"><span style=\"text-align: center;\">Activities opened on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Monday in the\u00a0 negative as the market capitalisation lost N150 billion and volume depreciated by 42.82 per cent.<\/span><br \/>\n<\/nav>\n<\/div>\n<\/header>\n<div id=\"inner_wrapper\" class=\"inner_wrapper hide-on-mobile-menu \">\n<div class=\"row full-width\">\n<div class=\"inner_content\">\n<div class=\"row has-sidebar\">\n<div class=\"post-93185 post type-post status-publish format-standard has-post-thumbnail hentry category-business tag-nigerian-stock-exchange\">\n<div class=\"row vc_row in-container\">\n<div class=\"medium-8 column left\">\n<article id=\"post-93185\" data-postid=\"93185\" data-guid=\"http:\/\/www.nan.ng\/?p=93185\" data-permalink=\"http:\/\/www.nan.ng\/business\/negative-day-for-nigerian-stocks-n150-billion-lost\/\">\n<div class=\"row collapse article-content-wrap\">\n<div class=\"small-12 medium-9 right column\">\n<div class=\"article-content\">\n<div class=\"post-body  xt-post-content\">\nThe News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that amid losses by blue chips, the market capitalisation, which opened at N14.753 trillion, shed N150 billion or 1.02 per cent to close at N14.603 trillion.<br \/>\nAlso, the All-Share Index dipped by 411.98 points or 1.01 per cent to close at 40,429.18 compared with 40,841.14 posted on Friday, April 6.<br \/>\nNAN reports that the market was weighed down by profit taking by some investors with major blue chips recording price losses.<br \/>\nUnilever recorded the highest loss to lead the losers\u2019 table, shedding N4.80 to close at N55 per share.<br \/>\nLafarge Africa trailed with a loss of N3.20 to close at N41 in spite of N1.50 final dividend declared for the financial year ended Dec. 31, 2017.<br \/>\nDangote Cement shed N2.90 to close at N252, while Guinness depreciated by N1 to close at N103.<br \/>\nDangote Flour also lost 65k to close at N13.15 per share.<br \/>\nAnalysts attributed the development to sell-off and profit taking on high cap stocks that suffered losses after their share prices were adjusted for dividend declared and some companies that declared unimpressive earnings.<br \/>\nOn the other hand, GlaxosmithKline led the gainers\u2019 table during the day, growing by N10 to close at N30 per share.<br \/>\nChampion Breweries followed with a gain of 20k to close at N2.48, while Cement Company of Northern Nigeria also gained 20k to close at N18 per share.<br \/>\nFidson Healthcare added 12k to close at N5.80, while Axa Mansard grew by 12k to close at N2.52 per share.<br \/>\nSimilarly, the volume and value of shares traded dropped by 42.82 per cent and 15.38 per cent, respectively.<br \/>\nConsequently, investors bought and sold 287.04 million shares valued at N4.95 billion transacted in 4,285 deals.<br \/>\nThis was in contrast with a turnover of 501.96 million shares worth N5.85 billion exchanged in 6,108 deals on Friday.<br \/>\nFBN Holdings was the most active in volume terms, accounting for 29.58 million shares worth N359.09 million.<br \/>\nSkye Bank followed with 23.12 million shares valued at N15.04 million, while FCMB Group traded 22.95 million shares worth N53.94 million.<br \/>\nZenith International Bank sold 22.49 million shares valued at N606.94 million, while Nigerian Breweries exchanged 20.64 million shares worth N2.58 billion.\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<footer class=\"footer_wrapper hide-on-mobile-menu loaded\">\n<div id=\"footer-widget-zone-footer\" class=\"widget-area footer_widget footer footer__widgets\">\n<div class=\"row stretch collapse\">\n<div class=\"medium-3 large-3 column\">\n<aside id=\"nav_menu-2\" class=\"widget widget_nav_menu\">\n<div class=\"menu-footer-category-menu-container\">\n&nbsp;\n<\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/footer>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Activities opened on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Monday in the\u00a0 negative as the market capitalisation lost N150 billion and volume depreciated by 42.82 per cent.
