{"id":8450,"date":"2018-03-28T17:24:00","date_gmt":"2018-03-28T17:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=8450"},"modified":"2018-03-28T17:24:00","modified_gmt":"2018-03-28T17:24:00","slug":"s-west-states-to-donate-1000-hectares-each-to-lagos-for-rice-farming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=8450","title":{"rendered":"S\/West states to donate 1000 hectares each to Lagos for rice\u00a0 farming"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From <strong>Jimoh Joseph<\/strong>, Ado Ekiti<br \/>\nStates in the Southwest geopolitical zone are to\u00a0 to allocate 1000 hectares each to Lagos for rice production.<br \/>\nThis is just as the states are to conduct a study of Ekiti State&#8217;s successes in education for peer learning and adoption.<br \/>\nThe process is to be conducted by the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission, the agency spearheading regional integration and cooperation among the states.<br \/>\nThis was part of the communiqu\u00e9 issued at the end of the meeting of state governors in the region held in Ikeja, Lagos on Wednesday.<br \/>\nThe governors held that peer review in critical areas was necessary for the growth and actualisation of the potential<br \/>\nof the region and her people.<br \/>\nRecall that Ekiti State came first in 2016 and 2017 National Examinations Council (NECO)-conducted exams, while it recorded 74 percent success in the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) among other educational feats.<br \/>\nThe South-West States also agreed to jointly bid for the concession of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport and turn it to a world class infrastructure.<br \/>\n\u201cAs a way of accelerating rice production and improve agriculture in the region, other states agreed to allocate 1000 hectares each to Lagos for rice production.\u201d<br \/>\nMeanwhile, the Southwest governors formally admitted Lagos State into the Oodua Investment Limited.
