{"id":8370,"date":"2018-03-25T09:48:04","date_gmt":"2018-03-25T09:48:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=8370"},"modified":"2018-03-25T09:48:04","modified_gmt":"2018-03-25T09:48:04","slug":"confusion-as-police-recants-on-freedom-for-citizen-leah-sharibu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=8370","title":{"rendered":"Confusion as Police recants on freedom for Citizen Leah Sharibu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Less than 24 hours after he was quoted as saying detained Christian gir\u013a, Leah Sharibu, was on the verge of being released by her Boko Haram captors, Police Inspector-General, Ibrahim Idris, is now claiming he was misunderstood.<br \/>\nIn Maiduguri, Borno State, he was quoted as saying, \u201cI was suppose to be in Dapchi today (Saturday but I couldn\u2019t go because l learnt that Leah Sharibu may be released today by the Boko Haram terrorists.<br \/>\n\u201cI would have gone to Dapchi today but by the time I fly in with a helicopter and police escort, they(terrorists) may think I\u2019m trying to break the arrangement\u201d.<br \/>\nBut on Sunday, a statement from Police spokesman, Assistant Commissioner of Police Jimoh Moshood reads: &#8220;The attention of the Nigeria Police Force has been drawn to the publication on some Social Media platform and conventional media indicating that the Inspector General of Police said the last Dapchi school girl will be released soon.<br \/>\n&#8220;The Statement of the IGP was misunderstood and misquoted. The misunderstanding may be as a result of the already released Dapchi School girls expected back home in Yobe State today but could not arrive due to weather condition.
