{"id":7904,"date":"2018-03-02T11:37:45","date_gmt":"2018-03-02T11:37:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=7904"},"modified":"2018-03-02T11:37:45","modified_gmt":"2018-03-02T11:37:45","slug":"day-2-dss-detains-tony-ezimakor-daily-independents-abuja-bureau-chief","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=7904","title":{"rendered":"Day 2: DSS Detains Tony Ezimakor, Daily INDEPENDENT\u2019s Abuja Bureau Chief"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By <strong>Don Okere<\/strong>, Editor, DAILY INDEPENDENT<br \/>\nFor the second day running, authorities of the Department of State Services (DSS) have detained Mr.Tony Ezimakor, INDEPENDENT Newspapers\u2019 Abuja Bureau Chief.<br \/>\nHe was invited and detained on Wednesday, February 28, at the DSS headquarters in Abuja at about 10.30a.m. and has been kept under detention since then.<br \/>\nUpon honouring the invitation on Wednesday, he was shunted from one office to the other and was asked to wait for a particular officer who was said to have been away from his office.<br \/>\nINDEPENDENT management had made frantic efforts through its lawyer, Mr. Douglas Ekhator, since Wednesday to see the detained Ezimakor but with little result.<br \/>\nAs at today, the INDEPENDENT management had received no news about Mr. Ezimakor, though the lawyer, Mr. Ekhator, returned to the DSS office on Thursday morning.<br \/>\nOne thing is certain, Mr. Ezimakor was not given his medication though the lawyer who took it to him late Wednesday.<br \/>\nWe hereby alert the world to this real and present danger that Mr. Ezimakor is a high blood pressure patient and apart from taking his drugs, needs to see his doctors at very short notice.<br \/>\nThe implication is very clear; any outfit holding him for days is endangering his life. We reiterate that Mr. Ezimakor\u2019s wife said the husband left home on Wednesday without medication and did not eat any food before leaving home Wednesday morning.<br \/>\nShe lamented that her husband\u2019s health must be in grave danger, especially as DSS operatives have denied him access to his prescribed drugs.<br \/>\nINDEPENDENT, therefore, is asking for its Abuja Bureau Chief\u2019s immediate and unconditional release, otherwise his life is in serious danger.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Don Okere, Editor, DAILY INDEPENDENT For the second day running, authorities of the Department of State Services (DSS) have detained Mr.Tony Ezimakor, INDEPENDENT Newspapers\u2019 Abuja Bureau Chief.
