Minister"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"ltr\">Nigeria is building what will be Africa\u2019s biggest and most lucrative\u00a0Free To Air Television platform, with the ongoing transition from\u00a0analogue to digital television in the country, the Minister of\u00a0Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has said.<br \/>\n&#8221;With over 24 million TV households, and being the capital of African\u00a0creativity in Music and Film, I am now more than\u00a0convinced that we will also become the capital of Television in Africa\u00a0within the next few years,&#8221; the Minister said at the launch of the\u00a0digital television in Osogbo, Osun State, on Friday.<br \/>\nHe said everyone, including mobile phone companies, advertisers,\u00a0content producers, electronic manufacturers, Nollywood and State\u00a0Government, stands to benefit from the transition.<br \/>\nAlhaji Mohammed said mobile phone companies should leverage on the set\u00a0top boxes that give owners access to the free television channels to\u00a0get data to the 24 million TV households in the country, adding:\u00a0&#8221;With the boxes we have introduced, your data can be taken into every\u00a0home in Nigeria for use in consuming video.&#8221;<br \/>\nHe said the transition will also benefit advertisers, noting: &#8221;We are\u00a0finally going to be able to bring all those 180 million eyeballs to\u00a0the doorsteps of your product, with the technology that will make it\u00a0easier for you to target identified customers and make every Naira you\u00a0spend on advertising worth its while.&#8221;<br \/>\nThe Minister said content producers will no longer pay to get their\u00a0content aired, but will instead be paid, thanks to myriad of channels\u00a0and a well-managed Audience Measurement System.<br \/>\nHe urged Electronics Manufacturers to, through the massive sale of\u00a0television sets, decoders and dongles, provide jobs for Nigerians and\u00a0become exporters of the appliances to the rest of Africa.<br \/>\n&#8221;To Nollywood, your movies can now be sold directly to all homes in\u00a0Nigeria without the need of a VCD, DVD or even the Internet, using the\u00a0DSO platform to market and sell films,&#8221;
