{"id":69620,"date":"2024-04-12T16:59:12","date_gmt":"2024-04-12T16:59:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=69620"},"modified":"2024-04-12T16:59:12","modified_gmt":"2024-04-12T16:59:12","slug":"police-confirm-kidnap-of-rogers-channels-tv-reporter-in-rivers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=69620","title":{"rendered":"Police confirm\u00a0 kidnap of Rogers,\u00a0 Channels TV reporter in Rivers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">More than 12 hours after his abduction, the Police Command in Rivers State has confirmed the abduction of Joshua Rogers, a reporter with Channels Television<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">at his residence in Rumuosi, Obio\/Akpor area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">SP Grace Iringe-Koko, a police spokesperson, disclosed in Port Harcourt on Friday that the reporter was abducted on Thursday night.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">She said, \u201cThe Rivers Police command is aware of Rogers abduction and efforts are already underway to secure his release.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">\u201cAlthough his abductors are yet to make contact, we are working with other security agencies to get him freed.&#8221; <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">Rogers, a Channels Government House Correspondent in Rivers, was abducted at about 9 p.m. on Thursday after returning home from covering an event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">It was gathered that Rogers was trailed after he closed from work to his apartment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">\u201cThe gunmen trailed him before he alighted from his car, pointed a gun at him and whisked him away along with his vehicle to an unknown destination at about 9 00 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">\u201cWe later heard that the kidnappers later contacted his wife and demanded N30 million for his release,\u201d a source, who pleaded anonymity, said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">Rogers, had earlier covered the inauguration of a Primary Healthcare Centre by Gov.
