{"id":69094,"date":"2024-02-19T19:30:47","date_gmt":"2024-02-19T19:30:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=69094"},"modified":"2024-02-19T19:30:47","modified_gmt":"2024-02-19T19:30:47","slug":"scandal-wike-agencies-aso-vila-cbn-finance-owing-n47b-electricity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=69094","title":{"rendered":"Scandal: Wike agencies, Aso Villa, CBN, Finance owing N47b in electricity bills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">By <strong>Deola Olukande<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company has listed Nigeria&#8217;s seat of power, the Aso Rock Villa; its seats of financial power, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Federal Ministry of Finance, as some of its huge debtors, like military formations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">Curiously, Barrister <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">Nyesom Wike&#8217;s Ministry of the Federal Capital Territory and parastatals, which have been on residents jugular over debts owes a staggering N7,573,120,732.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">AEDC has, therefore issued a 10-day notice of disconnection to them all over their embarrassing\u00a0 indebtedness. Below is a publication of the indebted entities.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_69098\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-69098\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-69098\" src=\"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/IMG-20240219-WA0028-300x212.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"212\" srcset=\"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/IMG-20240219-WA0028-300x212.jpg 300w, https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/IMG-20240219-WA0028-1024x723.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/IMG-20240219-WA0028-768x542.jpg 768w, https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/IMG-20240219-WA0028-696x492.jpg 696w, https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/IMG-20240219-WA0028-1068x754.jpg 1068w, https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/IMG-20240219-WA0028.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-69098\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Debtors and volume of debt.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">A whopping N47,195,620,266.06 is owed by the seats of power and finance and other Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">The Presidential Villa owes nearly a billion Naira with a debt tag of N923,873,150.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">Military barracks and formations owe the most with\u00a0 N12,001,481,606.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">The Ministry of Finance has an accumulated debt of N5,432,741,321, while the Liaison Office of the Niger State Government is owing N3,448,373,803.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">According to the Notice of Disconnection signed and released by AEDC Management on Monday in a publication: \u201cAbuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) is constrained to do this publication with the details of Government Ministries, Department and Agencies with long outstanding unpaid bills for services rendered to them through the provision of electricity supply.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">\u201cIn that our previous attempts to make them honour their obligations have not achieved the desired result.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">\u201cThe relevant MDAs are hereby given notice that AEDC, shall after the expiration of 10 days from the date of this publication, that is, after Wednesday, 28th February, 2024, embark on the disconnection of our services to them until they discharge their obligations to us by paying their debts.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<!--\/data\/user\/0\/com.samsung.android.app.notes\/files\/clipdata\/clipdata_bodytext_240219_202303_033.sdocx--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Deola Olukande The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company has listed Nigeria&#8217;s seat of power, the Aso Rock Villa; its seats of financial power, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Federal Ministry of Finance, as some of its huge debtors, like military formations.
