{"id":68638,"date":"2024-02-07T18:21:24","date_gmt":"2024-02-07T18:21:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=68638"},"modified":"2024-02-07T18:21:24","modified_gmt":"2024-02-07T18:21:24","slug":"questions-as-final-year-female-student-dies-in-hotel-room-sniper-bottle-found","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=68638","title":{"rendered":"Questions as final year female student dies in hotel room, Sniper bottle found"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">Investigations have commenced into circumstances surrounding the death of a 400-level female student of Olabisi Onabanjo University, OOU, in Ago-Iwoye, Adaeze Jaja, found dead in a hotel room in Ago Iwoye.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident to newsmen on Tuesday in Abeokuta, amid speculations that it might have been a case of suicide.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">But questions are being raised over her presence in the hotel and whether she went there with a partner.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">However, Odutola said the 31-year-old was reported to have been found lying unconscious in the room and foaming in the mouth with an empty bottle of Sniper beside her.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">Mr Odutola explained that the incident was reported to the Divisional Police Officer, Ago-Iwoye Division, on Jan. 27 at 7:30 a.m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">\u201cThe Director of Be-Happy Hotel in Ago-Iwoye, Oduniyi Adelaja, came to the police station and reported that at about 6 a. m. on the day, he received information from one Adebayo Israel, a staff member of the hotel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">\u201cIsrael said that Adaeze was found lying unconscious and foaming in the mouth on a freezer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">\u201cAn empty bottle of Sniper was found beside her, and she was immediately rushed to Best Care Hospital and later transferred to Love and Care Hospital in Ago-Iwoye, where she was confirmed dead,\u201d the PPRO said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">Mr Odutola said that the scene of the crime was visited and the empty sniper bottle was recovered.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">She stated further that the body of the student had been taken to the OOU Teaching Hospital mortuary for an autopsy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">The PPRO added that the police Divisional Crime Branch, DCB, had begun an investigation into the case while the institution\u2019s authorities had been notified.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">\u25cf Additional report by <strong>NAN<\/strong>.<\/span><br \/>\n<!--\/data\/user\/0\/com.samsung.android.app.notes\/files\/clipdata\/clipdata_bodytext_240207_183337_010.sdocx--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Investigations have commenced into circumstances surrounding the death of a 400-level female student of Olabisi Onabanjo University, OOU, in Ago-Iwoye, Adaeze Jaja, found dead in a hotel room in Ago Iwoye.
