Sheriff Oborevwori, speaking through one of his Commissioners, Mr. Charles Aniagwu on Wednesday, disclosed that the state government is undertaking reconstruction of some adjoining roads to reduce vehicular traffic expected during construction of flyovers, cloverleaf, pedestrian bridges and road expansion in the Effurun and Warri gateway.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">The commissioner for works (rural roads and riverine areas) said that the state chief executive officer was desirous of completing over 100km of roads ahead of his first anniversary in office.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_67869\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-67869\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-67869\" src=\"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/j8p0-300x222.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"222\" srcset=\"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/j8p0-300x222.webp 300w, https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/j8p0-485x360.webp 485w, https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/j8p0.webp 650w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-67869\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Aniagwu addressing journalists after inspecting one of the projects.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">\u201cWe are constructing adjoining roads and detours at Effurun and Warri to mitigate the traffic challenges that may arise from the construction of flyovers and road expansion projects at the Effurun gateway.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">\u201cA detour off the Warri-Sapele Road through Adagbrasa to Okan junction through Agbarho to connect the East-West Road and for us to do that we have to clean up that corridor and we have examined Agbarho corridor to enable us present it to the Governor for approval.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">\u201cWe hope to complete them in the next four months so that those who have no business in Warri will now have to pass through the adjoining roads to ease off traffic on the road,\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">\u201cGovernor Oborevwori is confident that in 2024, a number of these projects are exited from the budget hence we are always on the road to ensure they are completed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">\u201cIt is the Governor\u2019s commitment to ensure that we utilise the construction season to actualize a number of these projects across all sectors because the Governor doesn\u2019t want to lose a day in the dry season to deliver the MORE Agenda to Deltans.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">\u201cOur visit today is part of efforts of Governor Oborevwori towards giving Deltans value for their money and to also ensure that the projects are completed on schedule and according to specifications\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">At<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\"> Uwheru community where he advised communities to cooperate with contractors, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">Aniagwu, a<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">ccompanied by the governor&#8217;s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon and Director Rural Roads, Mr Solomon Aghagba,<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\"> commended<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\"> the community for cooperating with the contractor, adding that construction of the road in that area would link eight agrarian communities and help to connect the communities with their kith and kin in the Okpe kingdom and also contribute to the GDP of the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">He said that the state government would continue to monitor contractors for timely delivery of projects in line with specifications to ensure Deltans get value for the money paid for projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">He told journalists during the inspection tour of ongoing projects in Okpe and Ughelli North Local Government Areas of the state, that a good number of the roads would be delivered before the first anniversary of the Governor Oborevwori\u2019s administration in May 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">The projects inspected include rehabilitation and asphalt overlay of Ohorhe\/Adagbrasa \/Ugolo\/Okuodiete Road with a spur from Adagbrasa \u2013 Ugolo through Ughwagba community to Okan junction in Okpe Local Government Area;
