How miserable I am!
\nI feel like the fruit picker after the harvest
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0who can find nothing to eat.
\nNot a cluster of grapes or a single early fig
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0can be found to satisfy my hunger.
\nThe godly people have all disappeared;
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0not one honest person is left on the earth.
\nThey are all murderers,
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0setting traps even for their own brothers.
\n\u00a0Both their hands are equally skilled at doing evil!
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Officials and judges alike demand bribes.
\nThe people with influence get what they want,
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and together they scheme to twist justice.
\n\u00a0Even the best of them is like a brier;
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0the most honest is as dangerous as a hedge of thorns.
\nBut your judgment day is coming swiftly now.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Your time of punishment is here, a time of confusion.
\n\u00a0Don\u2019t trust anyone\u2014
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0not your best friend or even your wife!
\n\u00a0For the son despises his father.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The daughter defies her mother.
\nThe daughter-in-law defies her mother-in-law.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Your enemies are right in your own household!
\n\u00a0As for me, I look to the\u00a0Lord\u00a0for help.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0I wait confidently for God to save me,
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and my God will certainly hear me.
\n\u00a0Do not gloat over me, my enemies!
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0For though I fall, I will rise again.
\nThough I sit in darkness,
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0the\u00a0Lord\u00a0will be my light.
\n\u00a0I will be patient as the\u00a0Lord punishes me,
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0for I have sinned against him.
\nBut after that, he will take up my case
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and give me justice for all I have suffered from my enemies.
\nThe\u00a0Lord\u00a0will bring me into the light,
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and I will see his righteousness.
\nThen my enemies will see that theLord\u00a0is on my side.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0They will be ashamed that they taunted me, saying,
\n\u201cSo where is the\u00a0Lord\u2014
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0that God of yours?\u201d
\nWith my own eyes I will see their downfall;
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0they will be trampled like mud in the streets….
\n\u00a0…Where is another God like you,
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0who pardons the guilt of the remnant,
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0overlooking the sins of his special people?
\nYou will not stay angry with your people forever,
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0because you delight in showing unfailing love.
