Governor Duoye Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared winner of last Saturday’s Governorship Election.<\/span><\/p>\n

Diri won six local government areas to win re-election while his closest rival, Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won two local government areas.<\/span><\/p>\n

During polled a total of 175,196 votes out of the <\/span>291,212 valid votes. Former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Sylva polled 110,108 votes, according to the<\/span> Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).<\/span><\/p>\n

The Labour Party candidate, Udengs Eradiri, got 905 votes.<\/span><\/p>\n

INEC returning officer for the Bayelsa election, Farouk Kuta, said \u201cDiri, having polled the majority votes and satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby by returned elected.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
