{"id":66067,"date":"2023-08-16T15:43:17","date_gmt":"2023-08-16T15:43:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=66067"},"modified":"2023-08-16T15:43:17","modified_gmt":"2023-08-16T15:43:17","slug":"kogi-east-communities-cry-out-for-govt-help-as-erosion-cuts-them-off","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=66067","title":{"rendered":"Kogi East communities cry out for govt help as erosion cuts them off"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">Indigenes of Ogalaja, Ofada, Emakpe, Ofante and Ofabo communities in Ogbonicha ward, Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State have cried out for help after a h<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">eavy downpour washed away a major culvert linking them to some parts of the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">They have called on the Kogi State Government for urgent intervention, while one source pointed accusing fingers in the direction of a construction firm for its activities which led to the washing away of the culvert.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">But two spokespersons for the cut-off communities said the heavy rain eroded Une River Culvert on the Aloma-Ofabo-Ogalaja-Akpanya Road.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">Messrs Omojo Godson and Attah Dan in a statement in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital urged the Kogi State Government to look into the plight of the people and rescue them from the danger posed by the erosion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">\u201dThis is another major setback to us, the entire culvert on the Une River has been eroded away leaving the communities disjointed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">\u201cOur people could no longer go to their farm and market, how can we cope with the current subsidy saga? This is indeed another major setback to us. We call on the Kogi State Government to come to our rescue immediately.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">\u201cA portion of our road between Aloma and Ogalaja is being eroded.
