She is Senator Aisha Binani of the All Progressive Congress.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBinani apart from being the first female to be so elected, also defeated an incumbent, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe becomes the country\u2019s first female governor from a part of the country where girl education was low and women are not considered to be fit for higher responsibilities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While a Facebook user\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/m.facebook.com\/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid02BUmGQYnTTzB6pA6fTwqWpctWem3ac1ypikLHcCe1jaf5ba1k7SjEitoUbeq3ijP4l&amp;id=100003053179136&amp;mibextid=Nif5oz\">posted<\/a>\u00a0her photo with the following accompanying text:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHer name is Senator Binani,the Governor-elect of Adamawa State. Congratulations to the Nigerian women\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_61294\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-61294\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-61294\" src=\"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/IMG_20221021_150018_396-300x238.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"238\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-61294\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Reports emerged Sunday night that there was confusion at the Adamawa state Governorship election results collation center following refusal by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Hudu Yunusa, to collate governorship results from Fufore local government area.<\/p>\n<p>As of the time, results from 20 local government areas have been collated, giving the incumbent governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri a slight lead.<\/p>\n<p>The last result that is pending is from Fufore local government which generated hot controversy during the day.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_63088\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-63088\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-63088\" src=\"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/images-7.jpeg-1-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/images-7.jpeg-1-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/images-7.jpeg-1-696x391.jpg 696w, https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/images-7.jpeg-1.jpg 739w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-63088\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Senator Aisha Binani<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><b>Verification:\u00a0<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/prnigeria.com\/\">PRNigeria<\/a>\u00a0monitored results collation from both INEC\u2019s IReV portal and the State Collation state but the winner of the election has not yet been announced by INEC as of the time of this fact check being Monday 20th March at 09:00hrs.<\/p>\n<p>Further\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelstv.com\/2023\/03\/20\/gov-elections-pdp-in-slight-lead-as-fintiri-binani-battle-for-adamawa\/\">findings<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/prnigeria.com\/\">PRNigeria<\/a>\u00a0indicates that the gubernatorial race in Adamawa State is a very fierce one with the two leading parties going neck and neck.<\/p>\n<p>INEC has so far only announced 20 of the 21 LGA\u2019s in the state and the figures show the governorship candidate of the PDP Ahmadu Fintiri, maintaining a slim lead over Send Aisha Dahiru Binani of the APC.<\/p>\n<p>While the governor who is seeking re-election has clearly won in about 11 LGAs, Binani has taken about 7 councils, however, the margins between both contending candidate is narrow.<\/p>\n<p>In all, results in 20 local governments have been announced out of 21 local governments, with the governor of the state and candidate of the PDP, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintri, presently leading with 35,615 votes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thisdaylive.com\/index.php\/2023\/03\/20\/adamawa-collation-centre-under-attack-as-pdp-supporters-insist-result-of-fufore-lga-must-be-announced\/\">Reports<\/a>\u00a0emerged that there was heightened tension at the Independent National Electoral Commission\u2019s (INEC) collection centre in Adamawa State at midnight as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other political parties resisted move by the commission to manipulate the governorship election results in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC).<\/p>\n<p>Owing to the tension, the Returning Officer in charge of the state governorship elections, Prof. Mohammed Alaminu Mele, who is the Deputy Vice-Chancelor Administration, University of Maiduguri, announced the suspension of collation of results.<\/p>\n<p><b>Conclusion<\/b>: findings by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/prnigeria.com\/\">PRNigeria<\/a>\u00a0reveales that the complete result in Adamawa State is yet to be announced as only figures in 20 local governments have been announced out of 21 local governments, with the governor of the state and candidate of the PDP, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintri, presently leading with 35,615 votes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/prnigeria.com\/\">PRNigeria<\/a>\u00a0therefore concludes that as at 09:00hrs of Monday 20th March 2023, no official announcement is made on the winner of Adamawa Gubernatorial Elections.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, the claim that Senator Aisha Dahiru Ahmed Binani has made history as the first elected female Governor in the country is MISLEADING. as at 9.00am of Monday March 20th, 2023<\/p>\n<p>By\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/prnigeria.com\/\">PRNigeria<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fact Check: Is Aisha Binani Elected as the First Female Governor in Nigeria?
