{"id":63079,"date":"2023-03-19T21:01:17","date_gmt":"2023-03-19T21:01:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=63079"},"modified":"2023-03-19T21:01:17","modified_gmt":"2023-03-19T21:01:17","slug":"defeated-sen-nnamani-congratulates-enugu-east-senator-elect-kelvin-chukwu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=63079","title":{"rendered":"Defeated Sen Nnamani congratulates Enugu East Senator-Elect, Kelvin Chukwu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Former Governor of Enugu state and Senator representing Enugu East in the Senate, Dr Chimaroke Nnamani has been sent packing from the Senate,\u00a0 and\u00a0 has sent a message of congratulation to his rival Kelvin Chukwu over his victory in the Saturday\u2019s Senatorial election.<\/p>\n<p>Chukwu, who came in as a late replacement for his murdered elder brother, Oyibo, caused an upset for Nnamani. Late Oyibo was killed a few days to the February 25 presidential and National Assembly elections, prompting the Labour Party to ask for a postponement of the election in that district to enable it replace its candidate.<\/p>\n<p>The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) agreed to the request amid wagging tongues as to who stood to benefit from the murder of the lawyer.<\/p>\n<p>Kevin polled 69,136 votes to defeat Chimaroke, who scored 48,701 votes.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_63081\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-63081\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-63081\" src=\"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/kevin-chukwu-chimaroke-nnamani-300x162.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"162\" srcset=\"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/kevin-chukwu-chimaroke-nnamani-300x162.jpg 300w, https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/kevin-chukwu-chimaroke-nnamani.jpg 650w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-63081\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kevin Chukwu; Senator Nnamani<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Senator Nnamani contested the Senatorial election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while Chukwu contested on the platform of Labour Party (LP).<\/p>\n<p>Senator Nnamani in the message said the outcome of the election reflected the wishes of the majority of constituents adding \u201cthe people have spoken\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that \u201cThe result of the election is in tandem with the rave of the moment in the South East zone who have identified with Labour Party .
