{"id":61791,"date":"2023-01-19T22:08:53","date_gmt":"2023-01-19T22:08:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=61791"},"modified":"2023-01-19T22:08:53","modified_gmt":"2023-01-19T22:08:53","slug":"why-vote-a-president-with-a-character-you-dont-want-in-your-child-obasanjo-asks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=61791","title":{"rendered":"Why vote a president with a character you don&#8217;t want in your child, Obasanjo asks (+Video)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reiterating a video gone viral by a cleric, Bishop Samuel Alaw in which he prayed that his congregants&#8217; children would have the character of whoever they voted in February 25, 2023 presidential election, former President Olusegun Obasanjo\u00a0 has again stirred controversy asking, \u201cWhy should you as a Nigerian vote for somebody that the character, the reputation, the life of which you do not want your own children to be?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He spoke at an interactive session of The Experiential Leadership in Africa (TEL-Africa), in Abeokuta, capital of\u00a0Ogun State,<\/p>\n<p>Said the former President of a letter he released in the new year endorsing the candidacy of Labour Party&#8217;s presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi: \u201cWhether the letter is open or not open, what I believe is that I will be punished by God if I know what is right and I did not put it where it should be.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe word I used is that one particular candidate has an edge, taking everything together and I take character, I take track record, I take vision and I take what you see in this man as a child of God.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI said they all claimed to be my mentees and of course I won\u2019t deny that. But if you are my mentee, they must also admit that I know them a little bit and if I then know them a little bit, I must be right to say\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know why people are\u2026 I have done this in the past before for President Buhari. I said President Buhari does not really understand economy and that is true and you have seen it.
