Hours after about 30 persons suspected to be political thugs stormed his compound and damaged vehicles within, Senator Lee Maeba, the Rivers State Chairman of Atiku\/Okowa Presidential Campaign team says all is well with his family and in his household.<\/p>\n

On phone, he said it was only his elder brother,\u00a0 who was in the house when the hoodlums came, that was injured in the attack, adding that “they told him they came for me and not him.”<\/p>\n

Asked if he had any protective measures in place after the attack, he answered in the affirmative, saying, “yes, within the ambits of the law.”<\/p>\n

He said no arrest has been made to the best of his knowledge though the Commissioner of Police in the State, Effiong Okon, said investigation into the matter has commenced.<\/p>\n

Okon assured that he will personally visit the scene of the incident<\/p>\n

Recall that there has been no love lost between Maeba and the Rivers State Government since he declared his support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate. Many in Rivers believe the revocation of his land allocation in the state was not unconnected with his stance.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the day, Maeba had told journalists: \u201cA young man called me with a number that I don\u2019t know and told me that I have done him a favour before but that I should be careful if I\u2019m at home. That they have an instruction from some quarters to attack my house and attack me and I dismissed that I have no problem with anybody.<\/p>\n

\u201cI drove out with my security personnel to see my mother-in-law. As I just entered my mother in-law\u2019s house the next thing my phone was ringing, my nephew just picked up the phone and said our house is under attack.<\/p>\n

They climbed the second gate and tied up the security man, took his phone, and entered the compound and were shouting where is he, one bullet will solve this Atiku problem and my senior brother was standing there and they descended on him\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
