After meeting behind closed-doors separately with former military leaders; Generals Ibrahim Babangida and AbdulsalamI Abubakar in Minna, former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has said he has no special candidate for the 2023 presidential election.<\/p>\n
Recently associated with efforts to push the candidature of former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, he told journalists that he was in the Niger State capital to see General Abdulsalami Abubakar who was recently indisposed.<\/p>\n
Obasanjo has also met with the presidential candidate in London. of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Ota, Ogun State; and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State<\/p>\n
On Sunday, Obasanjo said, in answer to a question: \u201cI don\u2019t have a special candidate, as far as the 2023 presidential election is concerned,\u201d Obasanjo said while disclosing the reason he was in Niger State.<\/p>\n
The former president stated that he was in the State to see Abubakar, whom he described as a brother, and that he had visited the former Head of State while he was in London, United Kingdom (UK) but could not meet with him.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have come to see my brother, who was a bit indisposed. When he was abroad, I had wanted to visit him. The day I arrived in London to visit him was the day he left.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, I said, well, since I could not see him in London, I will come to see him in Nigeria. And so, that is what I have come to do.\u00a0He is special in a way and he was indisposed, so I had to come and see him.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf there is anybody again who is special and indisposed that I have to see, I will see him. I am still strong enough,\u201d Obasanjo said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
