{"id":57852,"date":"2022-05-27T16:19:23","date_gmt":"2022-05-27T16:19:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=57852"},"modified":"2022-05-27T16:19:23","modified_gmt":"2022-05-27T16:19:23","slug":"court-denies-rochas-okorocha-bail-orders-him-to-put-fg-on-notice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=57852","title":{"rendered":"Court denies Rochas Okorocha bail, orders him to put FG on notice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday refused to admit former Imo State Governor, Anayo Rochas Okorocha to bail pending the determination of a suit he instituted against the Federal Government.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Inyang Eden Ekwo declined to compel the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC to release him on bail.<\/p>\n<p>Okorocha had filed an ex-parte application in which he predicated his bail request on the ground that he is a presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and that his political ambition would be jeopardised unless granted bail .<\/p>\n<p>Justice Ekwo in a brief ruling on the ball application said he was not inclined to admit him to bail.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, the judge ordered Okorocha to put the Federal Government on notice to come and defend the detention of the Senator representing Imo West in the Senate.<\/p>\n<p>Okorocha has been slated for arraignment on N2.9B money laundering charges before the same judge twice but refused to honour the same court.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday refused to admit former Imo State Governor, Anayo Rochas Okorocha to bail pending the determination of a suit he instituted against the Federal Government.
