{"id":56512,"date":"2022-03-12T12:14:46","date_gmt":"2022-03-12T12:14:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=56512"},"modified":"2022-03-12T12:14:46","modified_gmt":"2022-03-12T12:14:46","slug":"despite-high-cost-of-cooking-gas-kerosene-kogi-govt-bans-possesion-production-of-charcoal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=56512","title":{"rendered":"Despite high cost of cooking gas, kerosene, Kogi govt bans possesion, production of Charcoal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With growing lamentations over the high cost of cooking gas and kerosene, residents of Kogi State now have a new situation to contend with: the state governnent has banned the pproduction and possession of charcoal there.<\/p>\n<p>State Commissioner for Environment Mr Victor Adewale Omofaiye dropped the disheartening news as a growing number of people have reported to the cheaper means of cooking in the hard economic times.<\/p>\n<p>Omofaiye, in a statement on Friday in Lokoja, the state capital, disclosed that the production of charcoal\u00a0 is illegal and highly prohibited.<\/p>\n<p>He warned that any person or group of persons caught producing or in possession of the product shall be arrested and prosecuted in the court of law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny vehicle caught carrying charcoal shall be impounded by the Kogi State Government,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>It is not exactly known how the government plans to enforce the ban in the state known for its high poverty rate<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With growing lamentations over the high cost of cooking gas and kerosene, residents of Kogi State now have a new situation to contend with: the state governnent has banned the pproduction and possession of charcoal there.
