{"id":4813,"date":"2017-08-30T22:36:41","date_gmt":"2017-08-30T22:36:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=4813"},"modified":"2017-08-30T22:36:41","modified_gmt":"2017-08-30T22:36:41","slug":"sallah-bonanza-buhari-gives-each-tigress-n1m-officials-n500k-each","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=4813","title":{"rendered":"Sallah Bonanza: Buhari gives each Tigress N1m; officials, N500k each"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Courtesy: www.nan.ng<\/strong><br \/>\nBy Ismaila Chafe<br \/>\nPresident Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday in Abuja received members of the victorious D\u2019Tigress, showering the players with N1 million each and the officials N500,000 each.<br \/>\nThe President, after announcing the donation shortly before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), urged the team to remain focused.<br \/>\n\u201cYou should work towards winning the forthcoming 2018 FIBA Women\u2019s Basketball World Cup in Spain,\u2019\u2019 he said.<br \/>\nIn his remarks, the Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, attributed the achievement of the D\u2019Tigress in Mali to the \u201csilent reforms\u2019\u2019 embarked upon by his ministry.<br \/>\nHe said his ministry was determined to restore the old glory of sports in the country.<br \/>\nPresident Buhari had on Monday, in a statement, congratulated the senior national women basketball team for winning the 2017 FIBA Women\u2019s AfroBasket in Mali.<br \/>\nThe team had, with the victory, also qualified for the 2018 FIBA Women\u2019s Basketball World Cup in Spain.<br \/>\nThe President commended the players for displaying \u201cuncommon strength and confidence\u2019\u2019.<br \/>\nHe had urged members of the team and their handlers to remain focused and dedicated even as they prepared for greater glory to Nigeria at the forthcoming FIBA World Cup.<br \/>\nThe D\u2019Tigress had beaten Senegal 65-48 points in the final to win the competition.<br \/>\nThe team had recorded no loss in all their games before reaching the final.<br \/>\nThe last time Nigeria won the competition was in 2005, after their first win in 2003.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Courtesy: www.nan.ng By Ismaila Chafe President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday in Abuja received members of the victorious D\u2019Tigress, showering the players with N1 million each and the officials N500,000 each.
