{"id":36893,"date":"2021-11-16T08:30:57","date_gmt":"2021-11-16T07:30:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=36893"},"modified":"2021-11-16T08:30:57","modified_gmt":"2021-11-16T07:30:57","slug":"i-dont-know-what-came-over-me-says-student-who-beat-female-lecturer-to-coma","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=36893","title":{"rendered":"I don&#8217;t know what came over me, says student who beat female lecturer to coma"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Salaudeen Waliu, aka Captain Walz, the final-year student of the of the University of Ilorin, who beat a female lecturer, Dr. Rahmat Zakariyyah, to a state of coma has said he did it because she threw a mug at him, was unyielding to his plea, and because he didn&#8217;t know what came over him.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An on-campus journal of the University, University Campus Journalist, narrated Salaudeen&#8217;s claim that he had gone to the office of the female lecturer to plead with her to waive the mandatory Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme course which he missed as a result of a police detention in Lagos.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His story: \u201cMonths before the last Thursday incident, he was arrested and locked up for two months, thereby warranting his inability to attend SIWES duties.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said he had gone to visit a friend in Ikeja, Lagos State, when he felt like easing himself. He proceeded to relieve himself by a car and was allegedly mistaken for a thief, was thoroughly beaten by a mob, which later proceeded to hand him over to the Police.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-everyday-ng wp-block-embed-everyday-ng\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\nhttps:\/\/everyday.ng\/student-beats-female-uniilorin-lecturer-to-coma-asuu-condemns-attack-pledges-action\/\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was subsequently two months. His explanation did not cut any ice with his lecturer, meaning he had to spend an extra year in school.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said on the fateful Thursday when he entered the lecturer\u2019s office, she ordered him out of her office.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201dI got angry, I don\u2019t know what came over me, I started arguing and she told me to leave her office, I told her if I don\u2019t leave, what is she going to do?<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cShe then threw a mug at me which injured me and I started beating her,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201dI got angry, I don\u2019t know what came over me, I started arguing and she told me to leave her office, I told her if I don\u2019t leave, what is she going to do?<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cShe then threw a mug at me which injured me and I started beating her,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Salaudeen said she did not fight back as he continued to beat her.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201d I dragged her out and she ran. I chased and kept beating her before people came.
