After a denial by the Delta State Government that it has not received the \u00a34.5 million loot repatriated to the United Kingdom government, the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, ()OAGF, \u00a0has clarified that it has indeed not sent the money.
Everyday.ng reported comments earlier in the day by a top Delta official that the money has not registered in its account after the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr. Ahmed Idris, announced on Tuesday in the House of Representatives that the money had been sent into the state coffers.
A statement by Mr. Henshaw Ogubike, Director (Information, Press and Public Relations), OAGF, titled: \u201cRE: \u00a34.2m IBORI\u00a0LOOT: PUTTING THE RECORDS STRAIGHT\u201d is reproduced hereunder:
\u201cThe\u00a0Office\u00a0of the Accountant\u00a0General\u00a0of the\u00a0Federation\u00a0(OAGF) wishes to put the records straight regarding the widely circulated media report on the \u00a34.2m Ibori\u00a0Loot.
\u201cThe\u00a0issue\u00a0of the \u00a34.2m Ibori Loot has not\u00a0been properly resolved. The money is still being awaited, after which the issues around it will be resolved before further action is taken.\u00a0For\u00a0now, no money has\u00a0been\u00a0returned to\u00a0Delta State.
\u201cThis explanation is without prejudice to the proceedings\u00a0at\u00a0the public hearing that took place yesterday\u00a0during\u00a0which the AGF was only making general\u00a0comments about recoveries relating to State Governments.
