{"id":33392,"date":"2021-05-17T18:37:32","date_gmt":"2021-05-17T17:37:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=33392"},"modified":"2021-05-17T18:37:32","modified_gmt":"2021-05-17T17:37:32","slug":"company-director-arrested-over-alleged-n11-5m-fraud-10-in-enugu-for-alleged-internet-scams","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=33392","title":{"rendered":"Company director arrested over alleged N11.5m fraud, 10 in Enugu for alleged internet scams"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A company managing director, Stacy-Dan Ekpenyong (alias Daniel Ekpenyong), has been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly obtaining\u00a0the sum of N11.5m by false pretence.<br \/><br \/>Ekpenyong, the head of Stewardship Rural Investment Limited, was arrested at Keystone Bank, University of Uyo branch, Akwa Ibom State last Friday, following a petition by one Titilayo Bolos Malgwi who alleged that the 36-year-old suspect tricked her into investing in his\u00a0Micro Finance\u00a0Company. She claimed that she paid the sum of N11m into\u00a0the suspect\u2019s\u00a0company \u00a0account,\u00a0after\u00a0he\u00a0convinced her\u00a0that, she will get 10% interest on any amount invested after a period of three months.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/IMG-20210514-WA0033.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-33393\"\/><figcaption>Ekpeyong<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to EFCC spokesman, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, when it was time for her to start reaping from her investment, the complainant severed communication with her and efforts made to get her money back, proved abortive.<br \/><br \/>However, the Commission had been on the trail of the suspect since December 18, 2020,\u00a0when it first received a petition against\u00a0him\u00a0from one Amasi Ignatus whom the suspect allegedly\u00a0defrauded of the sum of N500, 000.00, through the same scheme.<br \/><br \/>Ekpenyong\u00a0has made\u00a0useful statements and will be charged to court as soon as investigation\u00a0is\u00a0concluded.<br \/><br \/>In another development, operatives of the EFCC in Enugu on Friday arrested 10 (Ten) suspected internet fraudsters for various offences bordering on cybercrime in Enugu.<br \/><br \/>The suspects include Ben- Ihedi Lucky, Akam Abraham Odinaka, Kanu Chinemerem, Ben-Ihedi Victor, Okechukwu Kelvin and Ben Ikedi Victor.<br \/><br \/>Others are Emenike Michael, Godswill Nkemjika, Emmanuel Samuel and Ethasor Emmanuel<br \/><br \/>Their arrest at Monarch Avenue, Maryland, Enugu, was sequel to actionable intelligence obtained by the Commission on their alleged fraudulent activities.<br \/><br \/>At the point of arrest, two Lexus RX 350 cars with registration numbers BDG- 736-GX and BDG-146-GX were recovered from the suspects.<br \/><br \/>Other incriminating materials recovered from them include various mobile phones and a laptop computer.<br \/><br \/>The suspects\u00a0will be charged to court as soon as the investigations are concluded.<br \/><br \/>\u00a0<br \/><br \/><br \/><br \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A company managing director, Stacy-Dan Ekpenyong (alias Daniel Ekpenyong), has been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly obtaining\u00a0the sum of N11.5m by false pretence.
