{"id":32779,"date":"2021-04-15T17:21:36","date_gmt":"2021-04-15T16:21:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=32779"},"modified":"2021-04-15T17:21:36","modified_gmt":"2021-04-15T16:21:36","slug":"economy-lets-not-play-to-the-gallery-time-will-tell-obaseki-replied-ahmed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=32779","title":{"rendered":"Economy: Let&#8217;s not play to the gallery&#8230;time will tell, Obaseki replies Ahmed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has replied the Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, after she denied that the Federal Government printed N60 billion in March to support allocation to states.<br \/><br \/>Obaseki in a series of tweets on Thursday said he believes it is statutory to offer useful advice for the benefit of the nation and called on the Federal Government to end \u2018monetary rascality.\u2019<br \/><br \/>He said, \u201cWhile we do not want to join issues with the Federal Ministry of Finance, we believe it is our duty to offer useful advice for the benefit of our country.<br \/><br \/>\u201cThe Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, should rally Nigerians to stem the obvious fiscal slide facing our country.<br \/><br \/>\u201cRather than play the Ostrich, we urge the government to take urgent steps to end the current monetary rascality, so as to prevent the prevailing economic challenge from degenerating further.<br \/><br \/>\u201cWe believe it is imperative to approach the Nigerian project with all sense of responsibility and commitment and not play to the gallery because ultimately, time shall be the judge of us all.\u201d<br \/><br \/>The governor\u2019s reply comes few hours after the Minister of Finance debunked his claim that the Central Bank of Nigeria printed an additional N50billion to N60billion to make up for state allocations.<br \/><br \/>The Finance Minister after the 41st virtual Federal Executive Council meeting at the State House on Wednesday told journalists that Obaseki\u2019s claim was very sad and untrue.<br \/><br \/>\u201cThe issue that was raised by the Edo State Governor, for me, is very sad because it is not a fact.<br \/><br \/>\u201cWhat we distribute at FAAC is revenue that is generated and in fact, distribution revenue is public information. We publish revenue generated by FIRS, the Customs, and the NNPC and we distribute at FAAC.<br \/><br \/>\u201cSo, it is not true to say we printed money to distribute at FAAC.
