{"id":31961,"date":"2021-03-15T10:06:20","date_gmt":"2021-03-15T09:06:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=31961"},"modified":"2021-03-15T10:06:20","modified_gmt":"2021-03-15T09:06:20","slug":"senate-queries-agf-over-non-disclosure-of-beneficiaries-of-fgs-n57-6bn-grants-four-years-after","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=31961","title":{"rendered":"Senate Queries AGF Over Non-Disclosure of Beneficiaries of FG\u2019s N57.6bn Grants, Four Years After"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Senate Committee on Public Accounts has queried the Accountant General of the Federation over failure to disclose details of a 2017 N57.6 billion federal government grant to state state governments,\u00a0 privately owned companies, government owned companies, contributions to international organizations, and others.\u00a0<br \/><br \/>The Senate Committee on Public Accounts, relying on the 2017 report of\u00a0 Office of Auditor General of the Federation issued the querry<br \/><br \/>The query reads, \u201cExamination of Note 14 (Grants and Contributions), as well as the Statement of Financial Performance revealed the following<br \/><br \/>\u201cThe budgetary provision for Grants and Contribution was not disclosed in the\u00a0notes to the accounts. This contravenes the provisions of IPSAS 24\u00a0(Presentation of Budget Information in Financial Statements).<br \/><br \/>\u201cThe sum of \u20a657,624,929,461.05 (Fifty-seven billion, six hundred and twenty-four million, nine hundred and twenty-nine thousand, four hundred and sixty-one naira, five kobo) was granted by the Federal Government of Nigeria as\u00a0grants and contribution which represent transfers to domestic and foreign\u00a0governments, public and private owned companies, academic institutions\u00a0and internationals for 2017. The breakdown and details of grants and\u00a0contributions were not presented for audit.\u00a0<br \/><br \/>\u201cNon disclosure of details of Federal Government Grants and Contributions\u00a0will cast doubt on the authenticity and actual usage of such grants and contributions.<br \/><br \/>\u201cThe incomplete disclosure of budgeted figures may result in extra-budgetary\u00a0expenditures.<br \/><br \/>\u201cThe Accountant-General was requested to disclose beneficiaries of grants and\u00a0contributions for the year 2017.
