{"id":31292,"date":"2021-02-14T14:09:23","date_gmt":"2021-02-14T13:09:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=31292"},"modified":"2021-02-14T14:09:23","modified_gmt":"2021-02-14T13:09:23","slug":"40-arrested-by-the-police-at-the-occupylekki-protest-in-lagos-regain-freedom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=31292","title":{"rendered":"40 arrested by the Police at the #OccupyLekki protest in Lagos regain freedom"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lagos State Police Command spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement Saturday evening that they had been granted bail.<br \/><br \/>His words:\u201cThe command has arrested forty (40) suspects at Lekki Toll Gate plaza, Lagos State, on Saturday 13th February, 2021, for conspiracy, conduct likely to cause breach of peace and violation of COVID-19 protocols.<br \/><br \/>\u201cThe suspects had gathered at the Lekki Toll Gate plaza creating tension and behaving in such a manner that could cause breach of public peace without due regard for COVID-19 protocols major of which are use of nose masks and social distancing.<br \/><br \/>\u201cThe command has, however, arraigned the suspects today to the mobile court at Panti, Yaba accordingly but were however granted bail by the court.<br \/><br \/>\u201cThey will appear in court on the next date of adjournment, 2nd March, 2021, with the certificate of COVID-19 test.<br \/><br \/>\u201cThe command therefore assured the general public that it will always discharge its statutory duties as expected within the ambit of the law, while appealing to Lagosians to be law-abiding and go about their lawful businesses.\u201d<br \/><br \/>Everyday.ng reports on Saturday the Coordinator of the #OccupyLekkiTollgate, Kunle Ajayi, alleged that some of his people were arrested amid reports that an unspecified number of the #OcuppyLekkiTollGate arrested by armed policemen\u00a0stationed at the Lekki Toll Gate on Saturday.<br \/><br \/>One of those arrested was social media comedian,\u00a0Mr. Macaroni.<br \/><br \/>One of three suspected protesters arrested in the morning was heard screaming, \u2018what have I done?
