{"id":2899,"date":"2017-06-06T11:38:57","date_gmt":"2017-06-06T11:38:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=2899"},"modified":"2017-06-06T11:38:57","modified_gmt":"2017-06-06T11:38:57","slug":"innoson-the-local-manufacturing-prophet-gets-home-recognition-from-fg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=2899","title":{"rendered":"Innoson, the local manufacturing prophet, gets home recognition from FG"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Like a prophet long unhonoured and unpatronised by the powers that be at home,\u00a0Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Limited in\u00a0Nnewi, Anambra State has got a pat on the back by the Federal Government.<br \/>\nWhat is left is massive patronage to engender growth of the concern.<br \/>\nThe Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has\u00a0described the company as a trailblazer in Nigeria&#8217;s automotive industry.<br \/>\nHe was on a facility tour of the sprawling\u00a0manufacturing complex of the company.<br \/>\n&#8220;(It is)\u00a0a shinning example of what Nigeria is capable of\u00a0achieving if it looks inwards and taps into the boundless energy and\u00a0ingenuity of its people,&#8221; he said.<br \/>\nAlhaji Mohammed, in a statement from his office, \u00a0said as a manufacturing company, Innoson has\u00a0demonstrated the spirit behind the formulation of the National\u00a0Automotive Industry Development Plan, which is aimed at curtailing the\u00a0dependence on imports and ensuring the growth of the Nigerian\u00a0automotive industry, using local resources.<br \/>\n&#8220;Innoson is living up to what the policy aims to achieve: Creation of\u00a0jobs, conservation of foreign exchange and acceleration of technical\u00a0development,&#8221; he said.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nThe Minister said the Federal Government will continue to encourage\u00a0the patronage of Made-in-Nigeria products, noting that in that regard,\u00a0the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, in collaboration with\u00a0the Ministry of Information and Culture, recently held the National\u00a0Media Launch of the Made-in Nigeria Campaign.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&#8220;On May 18th 2017, as part of the Ease of Doing Business Initiative,\u00a0Acting President Yemi Osinbajo signed three Executive Orders. One oft\u00a0he three is called the &#8216;Support for local contents in public\u00a0procurement by the Federal Government&#8217;. A key provision of this is\u00a0that all ministries, departments and agencies of the Federal\u00a0Government shall grant preferences to local manufacturers of goods and\u00a0service providers in their procurement of goods and services,&#8221; he\u00a0said, noting that Innoson will be a major beneficiary of the Executive\u00a0Orders.<br \/>\nThe Minister noted that the success recorded by Innoson Vehicle\u00a0Manufacturing Company Limited, through the manufacturing of over\u00a010,000 vehicles and the creation of over 7,000 jobs, is a pointer to\u00a0the fact that the diversification of the economy by the Buhari\u00a0Administration is real and achievable.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nIn his remarks, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the\u00a0company, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, said the company, which started\u00a0operations in 2009, has production lines for Buses, Pick-up Vans,\u00a0Sports Utility Vehicles and Sedans, among others.<br \/>\nHe said the company has the capacity to produce 10,000 vehicles per\u00a0year and called for more patronage of its products.<br \/>\nChief Chukwuma, who took the Minister and his entourage on a tour of\u00a0the company&#8217;s factory, said the company has succeeded in reducing its\u00a0foreign manpower from 300 at inception to 15, thereby ensuring\u00a0technology transfer in the manufacturing of vehicles.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Like a prophet long unhonoured and unpatronised by the powers that be at home,\u00a0Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Limited in\u00a0Nnewi, Anambra State has got a pat on the back by the Federal Government.
