A petition against Adesina was thrown out after the bank&#8217;s Ethics Committee investigated accusations and cleared him. The US pushed for a review; but he was again cleared.<br \/><br \/>Adesina stood alone in the election, but was endorsed in a virtual general meeting on Thursday.<br \/><br \/>The first whiff of his re-election was when a presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, tweeted, \u201cNigeria\u2019s Dr. Akinwumi Adesina has been re-elected as the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB). With this re-election, he will spend another 5 years supervising the affairs of the Bank.
