And whereas death is inevitable, we all desire to conquer poverty, either through hard work or by seeking divine favours.<br \/>\nPoverty is defined as &#8216;the state of extreme lack, insufficient in amount or being inferior in quality, especially of thought and imagination&#8217;. For believers in Christ Jesus, our poverty is usually more of the latter than the former.<br \/>\nWe have it on the authority of God&#8217;s word that THE LORD IS OUR SHEPHERD therefore we shall not lack. And that HIS DIVINE POWER HAS GRANTED US ALL we need to live and honor Him (Psalm 23; 2 Peter 1:3). Where then comes our poverty?<br \/>\nOur Lord Jesus never rebuked His disciples for lack of money or material; it was always for &#8220;&#8230;O YOU OF LITTLE FAITH&#8221; (Matt. 6:30; 14:31) The poverty of the believer is usually a poverty of KNOWLEDGE of God&#8217;s Word and FAITH in them. That is the poverty that hurts.
