{"id":26620,"date":"2020-06-10T11:13:44","date_gmt":"2020-06-10T10:13:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=26620"},"modified":"2020-06-10T11:13:44","modified_gmt":"2020-06-10T10:13:44","slug":"fg-to-arraign-35-year-old-man-for-allegedly-raping-own-daughter-on-june-16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=26620","title":{"rendered":"FG To Arraign 35-year old man for allegedly raping own daughter on June 16"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By <strong>Yemi Oyeyemi<\/strong>, Abuja<br \/>\nA 35 years old man, Onyebuchi Ezema, will on June 16 be arraigned before a Federal Capital Territory High Court for allegedly raping his own four years old daughter.<br \/>\nThe accused was said to have raped the daughter at his residence in Lugbe, a suburb of the Abuja metropolis.<br \/>\nAlthough the arraignment was slated for Tuesday, it was however scuttled due to a lack of interpreter in languages.<br \/>\nThe defendant had stunned the court when he announced that he understands and speaks Igbo language only. All efforts to get a neutral interpreter were unsuccessful.<br \/>\nJustice Angela Otaluka who was confronted with the challenge of securing an interpreter was forced by the challenge to put off the arraignment till June 16.<br \/>\nThe Judge ordered the Registrar of the court to get a neutral interpreter before the adjourned date.<br \/>\nIn the one count charge, the defendant, Onyebuchi Ezema is accused of raping his four year old daughter between the 15th and 16th of April 2020 at Lugbe within the jurisdiction of the FCT high court.<br \/>\nThe alleged offence is punishable under Section 1(1) of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act of 2015.<br \/>\nCounsel to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons NAPTIP, Mr Cornelius Dabeet, declined speaking with journalists on the matter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Yemi Oyeyemi, Abuja A 35 years old man, Onyebuchi Ezema, will on June 16 be arraigned before a Federal Capital Territory High Court for allegedly raping his own four years old daughter.
