{"id":26393,"date":"2020-05-16T23:57:08","date_gmt":"2020-05-16T22:57:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=26393"},"modified":"2020-05-16T23:57:08","modified_gmt":"2020-05-16T22:57:08","slug":"covid-19-buhari-receives-madagascan-herbal-drug","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=26393","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19: Buhari Receives Madagascan Herbal `Drug\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By <strong>Ismaila Chafe<\/strong> (NAN)<br \/>\nPresident Muhammadu Buhari has received the Madagascan native formulation against the COVID-19 pandemic, saying he will listen to science before allowing traditional or any new medicines to be administered on Nigerians.<br \/>\nMalam Garba Shehu, the President\u2019s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, in a statement in Abuja on Saturday, said the president made this known at an audience with the visiting President Umaro Sissoco Embalo of Guinea Bissau.<br \/>\nThe presidential aide revealed that Guinea-Bissau\u2019s President brought along with him the samples of the traditional medicine as shared to African nations by Madagascar.<br \/>\nShehu quoted President Buhari to have said his position on all such herbal or traditional medicinal postulates had remained the same.<br \/>\nThe Nigerian leader said: \u201cWe have our institutions, systems and processes in the country. Any such formulations should be sent to them for verification.<br \/>\n\u201cI will not put it to use without the endorsement of our institutions.\u2019\u2019<br \/>\nEmbalo said his visit was to seek counsel from his \u201cfather,\u201d President Buhari, on his plan for a \u201cgovernment of national unity\u201d and a proposed war against corruption in his country having stabilised Guinea Bissau after winning recent election.<br \/>\nHe also said that his new government met a country beset with a number of issues and problems, the resolution of which would require tremendous assistance from the \u201cbig brother,\u201d Nigeria.<br \/>\nHe said: \u201cProblems of Guinea Bissau are problems of Nigeria. I have come to you as your son.<br \/>\n\u201cI need your help and assistance to make the people happy. I will not let you down, neither will I put you in any difficult situation.\u2019\u2019<br \/>\nIn response to these demands, the Nigerian leader commended \u201cGeneral\u201c Embalo on his confirmation as President and for stabilizing the country.<br \/>\n\u201cI commend your political dexterity in getting the opposition to join the proposed unity government,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nPresident Buhari restated the determination of Nigeria to keep West Africa politically stable and promised to support the new government in Guinea Bissau.<br \/>\n\u201cI will cooperate and help in every way possible,\u201d he further assured.<br \/>\nHe also used the opportunity of the visit to praise the good work that the President of Niger Republic, Mahamadou Issoufou, who is the current Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), was doing in the sub-region.<br \/>\nPresident Buhari particularly commended Issoufou for keeping him informed of \u201call that is happening around\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Ismaila Chafe (NAN) President Muhammadu Buhari has received the Madagascan native formulation against the COVID-19 pandemic, saying he will listen to science before allowing traditional or any new medicines to be administered on Nigerians.
