{"id":25962,"date":"2020-04-19T01:49:29","date_gmt":"2020-04-19T00:49:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=25962"},"modified":"2020-04-19T01:49:29","modified_gmt":"2020-04-19T00:49:29","slug":"covid-19-kaduna-to-review-lockdown-order","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=25962","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19: Kaduna to review lockdown order"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kaduna State Government is fashioning out a framework to allow businesses that offer essential services to operate within the stay-at-home period and within limits.<br \/>\nThe Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe who made this known in a state broadcast on Saturday, said that the decision was taken \u2018\u2019to avoid shortages in food supply, beverages, and pharmaceuticals to residents.\u2019\u2019<br \/>\nDr Balarbe argued that these businesses will be allowed to operate because they \u2018\u2019are central to the lives, health, well-being and survival of our people but they will require special permits to operate.\u2019\u2019<br \/>\nThe Deputy Governor further said that \u2018\u2019 businesses that fall within this category are expected to apply to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Technology which will grant such permits after due diligence.\u2019\u2019<br \/>\nDr Balarabe however reiterated that Government will not compromise the COVID-19 Protocol on mass gathering and social distancing even when such permits are granted, warning that \u2018\u2019in the event of default, a business can lose such privilege.\u2019\u2019<br \/>\nAccording to her, the Government has been responding to peoples concerns and in keeping with the administration\u2019s \u2018\u2019people first mantra,\u2019\u2019 it has been reviewing the Lockdown Order regularly.<br \/>\nDr Balarabe listed the opening of the two-day window in order to allow citizens to restock food items, exempting trucks conveying food stuffs from the restriction of movement and the distribution of palliatives to households as part of the review.<br \/>\nThe Deputy Governor revealed that the State Executive Council met and also approved a Governance Continuation Plan.<br \/>\n\u2018\u2019Under the plan, all the five Policy Councils will resume their weekly meetings, while the State Exco will continue to meet monthly, all meetings will be held virtually,\u2019\u2019 she added.<br \/>\n\u2018\u2019Similarly, all Ministries, Departments and Agencies have been mandated to also develop their governance continuation plans, enabling their activities to continue remotely,\u2019\u2019 she also said.<br \/>\nDr Balarabe further said that \u2018\u2019all memoranda for consideration would be submitted electronically and approvals will be given in like manner.\u2019\u2019<br \/>\n\u2018\u2019 Although these initiatives have become the new normal which coronavirus has brought upon us, they are nonetheless in line with our administration\u2019s policy of e-governance, which emphasizes the digitalization of Government processes,\u2019\u2019 she argued.<!--more--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kaduna State Government is fashioning out a framework to allow businesses that offer essential services to operate within the stay-at-home period and within limits.
