{"id":25746,"date":"2020-04-05T18:23:46","date_gmt":"2020-04-05T17:23:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=25746"},"modified":"2020-04-05T18:23:46","modified_gmt":"2020-04-05T17:23:46","slug":"emulate-unilag-alumni-in-tackling-covid-19-akwa-ibom-govt-says-as-alumni-donates-materials","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=25746","title":{"rendered":"Emulate Unilag Alumni in tackling COVID-19, Akwa Ibom govt says, as Alumni donates materials"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Dominic Ukpong, has urged well-meaning persons and groups in the country to emulate the University of Lagos (Unilag) Alumni Association, Akwa Ibom branch, which on Sunday, presented relief materials to the Ibom Specialist Hospital, to support the fight against Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic disease.<br \/>\nDelivering the items on behalf of the President of the Association, Senator Effiong Bob, Secretary of the Association, Mr Ekanabasi Ubong, commended the state Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, for his efforts in the fight against the virus.<br \/>\nHe commended Governor Emmanuel&#8217;s efforts at winning by faith and not by fear; and safeguarding the lives of indigenes of the state in surviving the lock down.<br \/>\n<div style=\"width: 640px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-25746-1\" width=\"640\" height=\"352\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/VID-20200405-WA0029.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/VID-20200405-WA0029.mp4\">https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/VID-20200405-WA0029.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div><br \/>\nMr Ekanabasi urged well meaning Nigerians to join the fight against the pandemic as it is a duty for all and not only the government.<br \/>\nHe noted that the visit which was the first phase of intervention, would be extended to other developmental centres to help them survive the lockdown.<br \/>\nReceiving the items on behalf of the state government, Commissioner for Health, Dr Dominic Ukpong, thanked members of the association for their contribution in the fight against the dreaded virus.<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_25749\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-25749\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-25749\" src=\"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/IMG-20200405-WA0028-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-25749\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ekanaabasi and Ukpong in an elbow shake during the presentation ceremony<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nHe expressed gratitude particularly for the provision of the veronica buckets which he said will serve as a source of easy running water to those who complain of lack of running water in hospitals, homes, shops and markets.<br \/>\nItems delivered include veronica buckets, hand sanitizers with dispensers, bottles detol, liquid soaps, bleach, mops with buckets, face masks, gloves, and tissue papers.<br \/>\nIn the entourage were an Ex-officio of Unilag Alumni Association, Mrs Arit Ibanga, and Assistant Secretary, Mr Otobong Matthew.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Dominic Ukpong, has urged well-meaning persons and groups in the country to emulate the University of Lagos (Unilag) Alumni Association, Akwa Ibom branch, which on Sunday, presented relief materials to the Ibom Specialist Hospital, to support the fight against Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic disease.
