The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has announced a climb to 89 of those inflected by COVID-19 in Nigeria.
\nOn Saturday, NCDC tweeted, \u201cEight new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria, seven in Lagos State and one in Benue.
\n\u201cAs of 04:00 pm on 28th of March, there are 89 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria with one dead.
\n\u201cFor a breakdown of cases by states in real time, Lagos currently has 59 cases, FCT \u2013 three, Ekiti \u2013 one, Oyo \u2013 three, Edo \u2013 two, Bauchi \u2013 two, Osun \u2013 one, Rivers \u2013 one, Enugu \u2013 two, and Benue \u2013 one.\u201d
\n46 African countries in Africa are hit so far by the disease.
\nElsewhere, after signing a sweeping $2 trillion coronavirus spending package into law, President Trump\u00a0issued an order that permits the Pentagon to bring former troops back to active duty to augment forces already involved in the military\u2019s response to the pandemic.
\nIt comes as the United States has become the epicenter of the novel coronavirus pandemic, with more than 100,000 confirmed infections and nearly 1,600 deaths.
\nAccording to The Washington Post, more than 600,000 people have been infected and at least 28,000 have died worldwide, according to\u00a0Johns Hopkins University. Italy has been hit especially hard, with more than 9,000 deaths \u2014 most in the world. Italy has also surpassed China\u2019s reported case total, with more than 86,000 infections as of Saturday.
\nSouth Korea marked a new milestone, as more coronavirus patients have been discharged than those currently undergoing treatment.
