{"id":24382,"date":"2020-02-09T15:27:45","date_gmt":"2020-02-09T14:27:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=24382"},"modified":"2020-02-09T15:27:45","modified_gmt":"2020-02-09T14:27:45","slug":"teacher-in-borno-rewarded-with-accelerated-promotion-cash-reward-by-borno-gov","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=24382","title":{"rendered":"Teacher in Borno rewarded with accelerated promotion, cash reward by Borno Gov"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"VIDEO: How Igbo Woman of Borno Bagged Accelerated Promotion, Cash from Gov Zulum\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DGo9xvcpi_A?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\nGovernor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has given a cash reward and an accelerated promotion to Mrs Obiagelli Mazi, who had served as a dedicated teacher in the state for more than 30 years.<br \/>\nGovernor Zulum during an outing\u00a0at 6:30 am on Friday\u00a0to assess facilities at Shehu Sanda Kyarimi Primary school under Jere Local Government Area had encountered Mrs Obiagelli already waiting for her pupils.<br \/>\nOverwhelmed by Mrs Obiagelli\u2019s dedication, Governor Zulum commended and rewarded her with a personal cash gift of N100,000, nearly three times her monthly salary of N35,000 and later approved an executive order promoting her from class teacher to assistant headmistress.<br \/>\nPRNigeria gathered that Mrs Obiagelli, a level 12 class teacher before the promotion, hails from Abia state in the South-east and has been teaching for 31 years in Borno State in the North-east.<br \/>\nExecutive Chairman, Borno State Universal Education Board, SUBEB, Dr Shettima Kullima, conveyed the promotion on Saturday after his recommendation was approved by Governor Zulum.<br \/>\nGovernor Zulum had directed the executive chairman of Borno State Universal Education Board to review the woman\u2019s civil service position, her qualification (which happens to be NCE) and recommend her promotion.<br \/>\nDr. Kullima said that even though the woman was not a graduate her 31 years teaching experience and commitment coupled with an executive order by the Governor have earned her the promotion.<br \/>\nThe governor had posted a video of his interactions with the dedicated Igbo woman serving in the North-East with a strong message of appreciation. He wrote: \u201cYesterday, as early\u00a0as 6:30in the morning, I paid an unscheduled visit to Shehu Sanda Kyarimi II Primary School to see how we can improve the infrastructure therein and I met teacher, Mrs. Obliageri Mazi, an Igbo Christian from Abia State who has served for 31 years in the Borno state.<br \/>\n\u201cAlthough it was very early, I met none of the teachers and their pupils on the ground but only her.<br \/>\n\u201cHer gender, tribe, religion or state of origin does not surprise me but her passion, enthusiasm, dedication, commitment and above all patriotism do surprise me a lot.<br \/>\n\u201cAs a Government, we are mightily proud of\u00a0 her,&#8221;<br \/>\nBy <strong>PRNigeria<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has given a cash reward and an accelerated promotion to Mrs Obiagelli Mazi, who had served as a dedicated teacher in the state for more than 30 years.
