{"id":23679,"date":"2020-01-07T21:29:23","date_gmt":"2020-01-07T20:29:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=23679"},"modified":"2020-01-07T21:29:23","modified_gmt":"2020-01-07T20:29:23","slug":"magu-says-injunction-holding-efcc-back-from-rivers-govt-officials-no-longer-valid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=23679","title":{"rendered":"Magu says injunction holding EFCC back from Rivers Govt officials no longer valid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the opinion of the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu, there is no subsisting perpetual injunction restraining the commission from investigating the River State Government officials.<br \/>\nSuch an injunction, Magu, on a working visit to EFCC &#8216;s Port Harcourt Zonal office, says has been overtaken by events, adding that there are several rulings that had knocked off the injunction.<br \/>\nIn a statement from his office by spokesman, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, Magu was quoted as saying: &#8220;That judgment cannot stand the test of time. The judgment is overtaken by events\u00a0 and there are several\u00a0 judgments that had nullified the injunction.\u00a0 The matter is now in\u00a0(the) Surpeme court&#8221;.<br \/>\nMagu warned illegal oil bunkerers in the Niger Delta region to desist from\u00a0 acts of oil theft and economic sabotage.<br \/>\nAddressing the media, the commission head said illegal oil bunkering is a terrible\u00a0 leakage of the economy and the EFCC would not relent in fighting it.<br \/>\n&#8220;Let me also use this medium to warn all illegal oil bunkerers to desist from their nefarious operations.\u00a0The EFCC is resolute in its fight against economic sabotage and oil theft. The Niger Delta is highly significant to our national economy and the Commission will continue to do all that is lawful and patriotic in ensuring that operators of illegal oil bunkering are brought to book&#8221;, he said.<br \/>\nThe EFCC Chairman stressed that illegal oil bunkerers would face tougher times in the new year.<br \/>\nHe paid an inspection visit to the 6th Division, Nigerian Army,\u00a0 Port Harcourt,\u00a0 where vehicles forfeited to the Federal Government by illegal oil dealers are parked.<br \/>\nMagu explained that all the forfeited vehicles belong to the Federal Government and the processes for their auction are still ongoing.<br \/>\n\u201cAll the vehicles forfeited belong to government. The processes are ongoing.\u00a0 We are following processes stated in the Procurement Act. We are not hiding anything.
