{"id":23271,"date":"2019-12-20T13:54:40","date_gmt":"2019-12-20T12:54:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=23271"},"modified":"2019-12-20T13:54:40","modified_gmt":"2019-12-20T12:54:40","slug":"efcc-gets-courts-order-to-detain-former-agf-adoke-for-14-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everyday.ng\/?p=23271","title":{"rendered":"EFCC Gets Court&#8217;s Order to Detain Former AGF, Adoke for 14 Days"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By <strong>Yemi Oyeyemi<\/strong>, Abuja<br \/>\nA High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Friday granted permission to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to detain former Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke SAN, for 14 days.<br \/>\nThe order was to enable the anti-graft agency conclude its investigation of Adoke over corruption allegations.<br \/>\nAdoke returned to the country Thursday after four years in self-imposed exile only to be arrested on arrival by the EFCC.<br \/>\nThe Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had in 2017 filed charges against Shell Nigeria Exploration Production Company Limited and 10 others, including Adoke and Nigeria Agip Exploration Limited.<br \/>\nEFCC in the suit marked FCT\/HC\/CR\/124\/17, accused the defenfants of fraudulently allocating the Oil Prospecting Licence 245 otherwise known as Malabu Oil.<br \/>\nThey were also accused of other forms of offences involving the sum of about $1.1billion, forgery of bank documents, bribery and corruption.<br \/>\nThe alleged $1.1 billion scam involved the transfer of the OPL 245 purportedly from Malabu Oil and Gas Limited to Shell Nigeria Exploration Production Co.
