Wonders and gullibility will never end as an architect has fallen victim of a smart alec who defrauded him of over N11 million in purchases claiming, among others, that he could use perfumes and honey to spiritually transfer scriptural verses to his memory.
\nAccording to a statement by the spokesman of anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, the Kaduna Zonal office of the Commission arrested one Mallam Abdulrashid Imam for defrauding\u00a0one Arc. Mohammed Dewu of\u00a0N3million and $24,000.
\nDewu had alleged in a petitioner that, sometime in October, 2019 the suspect fraudulently collected money from him claiming to have the supernatural ability to impart Qur’anic knowledge on him through the aid of\u00a0Jinns\u00a0(spirits).
\nTo facilitate this, the petitioner claimed that the suspect induced him to purchase the following items:\u00a0Two number of bottle perfume at N70,000; one\u00a0bottle of special perfume at N160,000; a\u00a0bottle of perfume for the treatment of his mother’s leg at N550,000; a set\u00a0of 60 perfumes to activate the Qur’anic\u00a0 verses that will be implanted into his brain by spiritual means at N1,680,000; two\u00a0mobile phones and SIM cards at N20,000 and thirty\u00a0buckets of honey that will enable him transfer the\u00a0Qur’anic verses to his brain at N900,000.
\nThe petitioner also alleged that the suspect compelled him to pay \u00a0the\u00a0sum of $24,000 for prayers to neutralize the forces preventing from getting a plum appointment which the government had planned \u00a0for him.
\nUpon the suspect’s arrest, \u00a0a fake blank Qur’an and keys to the room he had been using to con the victim, were recovered.
\nSo far three houses in Kano state, reasonably suspected to be proceeds of fraud, have been linked to the suspect.
